More than a year ago I wrote about a smart little guitar from Xiaomi called Populele. The guitar connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth and shows you how to play. Exactly the same principle as if we were playing Guitar Hero with the difference that thanks to Populele we have classic, real sounds and not from loudspeakers.
On the funding platform, the new model collected 170% of the required amount, and until the end of the collection, 12 days remained. What changed?
The new generation of Populele, even more smart features
In the new version the manufacturer imposed even more similarities to the Guitar Hero game. From now on, we'll be able to challenge friends and play their recordings. Classic wood was abandoned and replaced with two plastic versions: black or white. The same as the predecessor has LED lighting which highlights what we have to "grab". And the whole is powered by two AAA (LR3) batteries with 1,5V voltage.
I have Populele, but I'm not playing on it. I'm not drawn to the game, it's hard for me to motivate myself. The game-competition features that were added to the new version would certainly motivate me to be better than a friend. I do not like Single Player, Multi is definitely better and this is Populele 2. Of course, you will still be able to learn to play the guitar alone, go to higher and higher levels of difficulty but the competition winds up everything. For me, the new version has one small minus, bluetooth in the 4.0 version, it could be 5.0.
The second generation of populele has been priced in China for 399 yuan, $ 58. Shipping to the first people will only start on 17 December, so 2018 Christmas gift is out.
